What is the New California Electric Vehicle Regulation?
So, is it worth it to buy an EV in California right now given the new California electric vehicle regulation? First, let’s take a look at what the California EV law stipulates, and then, we’ll answer whether now is a good time to buy an electric car near National City.
The Advanced Clean Cars II Standard was introduced in August 2022 by the California Air Resources Board. According to the new standard, 35% of the vehicles produced and sold must either be zero-emission vehicles (electric and fuel cell) or plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. This will begin in 2026, and that percentage will increase each year until 2035 when 100% of vehicles produced and sold must be compliant. While previously purchased gas vehicles may continue to operate after 2035, and even be sold or purchased used, the new California EV law aims to phase the combustion engine out of production. So, is it worth buying an electric car right now?
Is Now a Good Time to Buy an Electric Car?
